Crystal Marte, is a graduate from the University of Miami. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Exercise Physiology. She pursued a degree in psychology because of her fascination with behavior and she a great passion for working with children with autism. While obtaining her undergraduate degree, she became a part of organizations like Best Buddies and the Art of Healing because their missions involved bettering the lives of children in need and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In her senior year, she joined the research team under child psychologist, Daniel Messinger, whose research focuses on discovering ways to identify ASD early-on. Her passion for working with children stems from her lifelong experience of having a younger brother with autism. Crystal has learned to be patient, compassionate, and diligent because of him. She observed ABA therapists work with him since he was a toddler, and although the progress was gradual, it has made a definitive impact on his life. Crystal hopes to do for someone else what they did for her brother and improve the lives of children just like him. Crystal plans on applying to ABA graduate programs this year because she eventually wants to become a BCBA.
