Born in Havana, Cuba, her love for the Spanish language was evident from a very early age. As a child, she would eagerly listen to her grandparents' stories and was captivated by the lyrical beauty of their native tongue. Karelia's inclination towards teaching was apparent from the time she was a little girl. She often played "teacher" with her dolls and younger siblings, patiently guiding them through imaginary lessons in Spanish. Her parents noticed her talent for teaching and encouraged her to pursue her passion. Throughout her academic journey, Karelia consistently excelled in her studies. She received top grades in all her Spanish language and literature courses, reaffirming her dedication to the subject. After completing her secondary education, Karelia pursued a Bachelor's degree in Arts with a major in Spanish literature at a prestigious university in Havana. Her thirst for knowledge and her deep appreciation for the Spanish language only grew during her years of higher education. In 2003, Karelia began her professional teaching career in Cuba, working at a high school where she inspired her students to appreciate the beauty of Spanish literature and language. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and she quickly became a beloved figure in the school. However, Karelia's life took a significant turn when she made the difficult decision to emigrate to the United States in search of better opportunities. Her journey was filled with challenges, but her determination and passion for teaching remained unwavering. In the U.S., Karelia embarked on a new chapter of her life, working as a first-grade teacher in an elementary school. Karelia's transition to teaching young children was seamless, and she discovered a deep fulfillment in shaping young minds. Her approach combined her extensive knowledge of Spanish with a natural talent for making learning enjoyable. She understood the importance of nurturing a love for language from an early age. Outside of her classroom, Karelia had a vibrant personal life. Her hobbies included reading, often diving into Spanish literature to keep her connection to her roots alive. She also cherished moments of relaxation, watching a good movie to unwind and find inspiration for her teaching methods. In recent years, Karelia has discovered a new passion—helping special-needs children. Recognizing the need for specialized support, she became a registered behavior technician and joined the team at Cristal Mind New Beginnings, where her dedication and compassion continue to make a positive impact on the lives of these special kids. Her commitment to their development and well-being reflects her unwavering passion for teaching and her enduring love for the Spanish language.
