Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Sheila is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and has been in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for 7 years. Before starting in ABA, she was a pre-school teacher working with children ranging from infants to school-age. One day while working as a teacher she came across a behavior therapist and knew that was exactly the career path she wanted to pursue. She went on to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Florida International University in 2014, where she also completed the course sequence for Applied Behavior Analysis. She has worked as a behavior therapist with children and teens in the Autism spectrum and other developmental disabilities in different settings such as clinics, homes and schools. Throughout the years, she has become proficient in decreasing maladaptive behaviors and increasing appropriate adaptive skills to promote individuals’ ability to have a more independent and functional life. She has worked with parents to ensure they have the tools needed to help their child succeed. In addition, she has also collaborated with teachers in schools using.
Hi evidence-based strategies in the classroom to help students be successful. Sheila enrolled in graduate studies and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis at the University of South Florida in 2018 and shortly after became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Her mission as a BCBA is to use the science of behavior to bring about socially- significant behavior change to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families.  As part of her mission, she also hopes to disseminate and educate people about the field of ABA and the use of evidence-based treatment. It is also her goal that individuals and families feel understood and supported every step of the way. She hopes to continue learning and growing within the field and bring that knowledge and dedication to as many families as possible.
